Adults visit flowers, e.g. Cirsium arvense, Carduus, Filipendula, Ribes oxyacanthoides, R. rubrum, Solidago canadensis, and Sorbaria and can be collected on dung. Several specimens have been caught in caves and some have been observed to be kleptoparasitic on Phidippus multiformis feeding on the plant bug Lygus pratensis on wild aster (Frost, 1913).

Larvae develop in bird's nests, diverse kinds of dung like bat guano, chicken dung, sheep dung or in latrines.

In Greece specimens have been collected in May-July in Malaise traps, mainly in areas with anthropogenic influence; 45-190 m.
