Classification: Desmometopa glandulifera
This species is distinguished from other congeners by the following combination of characters: Basal 1/4-2/5 of forefemur yellow, rest black: mid- and hindfemora black; posteroventral brush on hindtarsus dark.
Male. Predominantly black; forecoxa, basal 1/4-2/5 of forefemur, mid- and hindtibiae and mid- and hindtarsi except distal tarsomeres yellow. Mid- and hindtibiae in some specimens quite dark. Palpus brown with darker tip, but in some specimens palpus mesobasally yellow.
Head: Anterior frontal seta half as long as posterior frontal seta. Postorbital region 1/6-1/5x as long as eye.
Wing: Length: 1.9-2.4 mm.
Abdomen: Tergites 1-4 microtrichose and subshiny medially, polished laterally, microtrichose spots progressively decreasing posteriorly; tergite 5 and all sternites polished. In some specimens anterior margin of tergite 5 subshiny. Abdominal reservoirs present.
Female. Does not differ from male except for the usual differences between male and female. (Brake & Freidberg 2003)
